Has it been eight already?

Its funny how time flies when you're having fun. I just realized it has been 8 years since fancyreba.com first went online. Can you believe it?

Its been alot of fun and I've met some really great people because of it. I am thankful to everyone who appreciates the effort put into the site - whether you've been with me for 8 years or just recently found the site.

I am proud of the contributors I have with me now. In the last few years (especially the last year) I have become very busy and I wouldn't be able to maintain the site as it is without them. "Thanks guys! For all your hard work."

I hope to continue the site as long as there are fans interested in viewing it. I've seen lots of fan sites come and go in 8 years and now that fancyreba.com is the longest running fan site on the internet I plan to keep it online for years to come.

Habitat for Humanity and Whirlpool Corp. Celebrate 50,000 Milestone in Appliance Donations

Friday September 17, 3:31 pm ET

Habitat families across United States receive refrigerator and range from world's largest appliance maker

AMERICUS, Ga., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Habitat for Humanity International announced today that Whirlpool Corp. has surpassed the 50,000 milestone in appliance donations to its organization. Since 1999, Whirlpool has committed to donate a refrigerator and range to every Habitat home built in North America, providing more than 26,000 families with the two most essential appliances for preserving and preparing a healthy meal. In addition to donating appliances, thousands of Whirlpool employees have donated their time and skills over the years to Habitat builds in their hometown communities.

"The true sign of a great partnership is one that grows and gets stronger with time, and that's exactly what has taken place between Whirlpool Corporation and Habitat for Humanity® International," said Jeff Fettig, chair, president and CEO of Whirlpool Corp. "Donating an ENERGY STAR®- qualified refrigerator and range to Habitat families is the foundation of our partnership. As we continue to build a stronger relationship with Habitat for Humanity, celebrating the milestone of 50,000 donated appliances is very special to our employees, our customers, and all our partners in Habitat."

Whirlpool announced earlier this year it is expanding its partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. In March 2004, Whirlpool announced plans to support Habitat's work throughout Europe, Central Asia and South Africa with product and financial donations. Additionally, Whirlpool continues to grow its partnership by helping raise the public's awareness to Habitat for Humanity by sponsoring Reba McEntire's summer concert tour throughout North America as well as the Women's Tennis Association throughout Europe in 2004.

"Whirlpool Corporation has proved to be one of the most valuable partners imaginable in the success and continued growth of Habitat for Humanity," said Paul Leonard, managing director of Habitat for Humanity International. "From the donation of appliances and employee volunteers, to bringing us Reba and their expansion to Habitat Europe -- Whirlpool is a leading partner in helping Habitat for Humanity eliminate poverty housing, one family at a time."

The 50,000-appliance donation was celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 18 in Seattle where Whirlpool teamed up with Rotary International and Chateau St. Michelle Winery to break ground on the 100th Habitat home built in Seattle. Whirlpool, Rotary International and Chateau St. Michelle have all joined forces to assist financially and physically in building Habitat homes in Seattle and surrounding areas. In addition to the celebration of the 100th Habitat home built in Seattle, Rotary International is celebrating its 100th anniversary and Chateau St. Michelle (Stimson Lane Wineries) is having their 30th Anniversary.

Must-see

REBA SEASON-OPENER (9PM)

When this show began, Reba learned that her cheating husband, Brock, was leaving her for his dental hygienist. Now the fourth season opens with things in disarray.

Brock isn't sure which woman he prefers. Neither woman is sure she wants him, either. The result is inconsistent but includes enough laughs to keep us watching.

'Reba' needing good thaw this season

As "Reba" (9 tonight, WBXX, Channel 20) moves into its fourth season, the domestic sitcom could be as good as it's ever going to get.

That's not as condemning to the Reba McEntire series as it sounds. The show is still amusing, though rarely laugh-out-loud funny.

All the characters are terribly likable (particularly ripe are Melissa Peterman and Steve Howey playing the next-door neighbor and the dimwitted son-in-law, respectively), though hardly worth investing time in for a weekly visit.

And McEntire remains the ultimate straight man: the comedic force who is funny enough to let everyone else get all the over-the-top laughs.

But, as "Reba" begins to become long in the tooth, it has managed the trick of staying exactly where we found it at day one.

The characters haven't progressed as people (even Reba's daughter and son-in-law still live with her). Reba is not invested in any romantic relationship. A career is not very important to her, and her annoying ex-husband and his new wife remain next door.

The harried home life that should have spurred interesting growth for its eclectic brood is frozen stiff.

The season opener indicates "Reba" might be headed for long-overdue change. After revealing he's clinically depressed, Brock, who is Reba's ex, announces he made a mistake leaving Reba years ago.

Barbara Jean, the ditz he left Reba for, wants to throw him out and start acting more independent, just as Reba did when Brock dumped her.

The revelation may shake out all this season, which is none too soon to get this comedy to show more life.

McEntire sings about being a survivor over the opening credits, but for "Reba" to soar, it's going to have to live more than it has been.

Cherokee Steakhouse

The meat is hard to beat at this dockside restaurant, which has been getting it right for nearly 50 years

Floaters and boaters on Old Hickory Lake have long known about Cherokee Steak House, just south of where Highway 109 bridges the water on its way to Gallatin. There on the shore, diners have buried their incisors in juicy steaks since 1958, and little it seems has changed since then.

The restaurant is part of the greater Cherokee Resort, which includes a marina and cabins. And getting there is like running a strange country music gauntlet. Once you turn onto the dock road, you'll marvel at the estate on the left — that's Reba's spread — lit up like a park at night. A few more yards down the road, you'll marvel at the trailer park you pass through before you reach the marina complex. It's a strange juxtaposition.

Also this weekend:

If the WB's "Reba" (9 tonight) is underrated - and I think it might be - it could be because it's associated with a network whose comedy losing streak is legendary.

Or it could be because its best work has been done in the trenches of family drama, as Reba McEntire and Christopher Rich's characters continue to come to terms with their divorce and his remarriage.

Tonight's fourth-season premiere finds Brock's (Rich) second marriage also hitting the rocks, and Reba left consoling her onetime nemesis, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman).
