BIG hair BIG star BIG HONOUR

IT has been 32 years since country singer Reba McEntire was spotted singing the US national anthem at a rodeo.

Her journey since then has been nothing short of spectacular, recording 33 No 1 hits and 29 albums, and winning 15 American Music Awards and two Grammy's.

Thursday, country superstars honoured the redheaded vocalist at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles in a two-hour performance, taped for an episode of Country Music Television's CMT Giants.

Said CMT vice-president of production, music and events Sarah Brock: 'Reba is the ultimate choice for us to honor as the very first CMT Giant.'

Among the artists who performed were Dolly Parton (right), Wynonna Judd, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood and LeAnn Rimes.

American Idol's first season winner Kelly Clarkson also made an appearance, performing with Martina McBride.

Clarkson grew up on country music, especially the songs of McEntire. Her performance was to express her appreciation of her own personal 'American Idol'.
