The book will be professionally bound (no scrapbook) filled with letters, stories and pictures from fans at fancyreba.com. If you would like to be a part of the fancyreba.com FAN BOOK, please submit via email to: fanbook@fancyreba.com (all files should be sent via email). Get your files sent in soon! The deadline for submitting your files will be 06/12/04. Its easiest just to type your message in a regular email. Please include a photo of yourself so Reba will know what you look like.

This FAN BOOK will not be 'sent' to Reba - but delivered to her in person. I will deliver the FAN BOOK 'by hand' to Reba personally at the Mt Pleasant MI show. I will be meeting with Reba either before the show or after the show and will give her the FAN BOOK at that time. I'd love to be able to take each of you with me to meet Reba, but I can't do that. Creating this book is a way to share the experience with you.

This is your chance to get a special message to Reba - Don't miss out!

ACM RECAP

Is there a better host than Reba McEntire? She was one of the highlights of the evening, continually delivering some light-hearted humor with impeccable timing. She opened the show by commenting on the number of celebrities in attendance, before adding, "Rod Stewart wanted to be here, but he's busy attending the birth of his next wife."

Later she poked fun at Willie Nelson, who has canceled summer tour dates because of trouble with carpal tunnel. He has also been a vocal advocate for marijuana use. "You may have heard that Willie has had trouble with his wrist and fingers of late, which is a first," McEntire said. "I've never known Willie to have trouble with a joint before."

CORRECTION: REBA WILL SING SOMEBODY

My name is Barry Dean. I wrote "Moving Oleta" (about my grandmother and grandfather) and I'm quoted in the interview above. I agreed to do the interview in an attempt to get coverage in our area for the local chapter of Alzheimers Association. I know that Reba is not singing Oleta and have been told she is singing "Somebody" to promote the single - written by a brilliant friend of mine, Dave Berg. After our local Alzheimers Association was able to get media from the fact that Reba was singing the song - it spread to other chapters in their national organization which allowed for media interest in Oklahoma City and Dallas. So you may have heard that she was singing it from several places. The fact is I found out this afternoon that she is not singing Oleta. I am only posting this because of my intense respect and gratitude to Reba.

I don't know much more about the situation - except these two very important things:
1. Reba believed in my song and loved it more than any writer could ever ask an artist to. I and my family will always be grateful to have such an incredible person and entertainer sing this song. For her to even think about singing it was an incredible honor and I'm glad for any intention it brings to the plight of those suffering or caregiving with Alzheimers.
2. The fact that Reba, in the midst of preparation for a LIVE TV event, would care and be thoughtful enough to ask her assistant to call and let us know that she was not performing our song -was an incredibly classy thoughtful kind act. Not a surprise. I've never heard a negative word about her and would never utter one.

She has the greatest fans - and I am one of them. It doesn't matter what she sings she is the queen. Sorry for any confusion.

McEntire to perform Dean's 'Moving Oleta' during tonight's awards show

By NIKKI PATRICK
Lifestyle Editor

Reba McEntire will sing a song by Pittsburg writer Barry Dean tonight as she hosts the Academy of County Music Awards, to be broadcast at 7 p.m. on CBS.

The song, "Moving Oleta," was included on McEntire's album "Room to Breathe."

"Usually, artists sing their latest singles, but apparently Reba told her record label that she wanted to sing this song," Dean said.

He said he heard the news about the song in a rather round-about way.

"I got an e-mail from someone who had been a student in a songwriting class I taught," Dean said. "He said that he'd heard a DJ talking about it. I e-mailed him back that I didn't think so, but I called my plugger (promoter) and he called Reba's people. They told him it was true. We're all excited about it."

"Moving Oleta" deals with Alzheimer's and the heartbreaking effects it can have on the patient's loved ones. Dean based it on a situation in his own family.

"I've learned a lot about Alzheimer's and about the Alzheimer's Association and all the resources it can provide for those with the disease and their families, including respite services for caregivers," he said. "I think a lot of families may not be aware of this."

The association has a regional office in Joplin. Those wishing information about services may call 1-800-487-0747.

Dean said he wasn't sure when during the awards program McEntire will sing the song, though he doubts that it will be the opening number.

There has been talk that she may release "Moving Oleta" as a single.

"I don't know about that, either, especially since the song is about such a heavy topic," Dean said. "It draws a lot of attention to Alzheimer's, and that can be a difficult thing to talk about. We just feel blessed that Reba loves the song so much."

Ailing WB, ABC Set to Cut Back on Laughs

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Following a ratings downturn this season, the WB plans a significant shakeup of its primetime lineup this fall.

In the schedule set to be unveiled to advertisers Tuesday in New York, the network will open up a comedy block on Wednesday for the first time since the 1997-98 season, introduce a one-hour variety show and, for the first time, have a reality series on its fall slate: "Studio 7," from "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" executive producer Michael Davies.

ABC also is set to unveil its schedule Tuesday, and like the WB, the network will scale back the number of comedies in its fall lineup.

ABC has ordered at least six new dramas but only two comedies: "Savages," from executive producers Mel Gibson (news) and "The Simpsons" veterans Mike Scully and Julie Thacker-Scully, and an untitled project starring comedian Rodney Carrington. Two ABC comedies that had been on the fence for renewals secured pickups late last week: "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" and "Less Than Perfect."

ABC's drama pickups include "Desperate Housewives," "Lost," "Grey's Anatomy," "Life as We Know It," "Eyes" and "Blind Justice."

After giving early pickups to dramas "Jack & Bobby" and "The Mountain," the WB gave the nod during the weekend to comedies "Commando Nanny" and "Drew Carey (news)'s Green Screen." Midseason orders include comedy "Shacking Up" and Jamie Kennedy (news)'s sketch comedy/hidden camera show "Wannabes."

The WB's Monday and Tuesday lineups are expected to stay intact. "Everwood," which fares much better in originals in its Monday 9 p.m. time slot, will air fewer repeats, with reality or drama projects rotating periodically through the time slot.

On Wednesday, the network brass hopes to hold onto the young male fans of "Smallville," which stays at 8 p.m., with sketch comedy "Blue Collar TV," toplined by Jeff Foxworthy (news) and improv comedy "Green Screen," which stars Carey.

After an unsuccessful two-year experiment to launch a comedy night on Thursday, the network is betting on "The Mountain," a new drama from the producers of "The O.C.," and "Studio 7," which combines elements of a game show and a strategy game, with the contestants living together and forming alliances.

Friday will remain a family comedy night with "Reba" moving back to 9 p.m., where it broke out as the network's first big comedy hit.

The new Friday lineup will feature "What I Like About You" at 8 p.m., followed by "Commando Nanny," "Reba" and "Grounded for Life."

The "Beginnings" Sunday 7 p.m. time slot, reserved in the past couple of years for older episodes of such established series as "Smallville" and "Gilmore Girls," has now been assigned to "Steve Harvey (news)'s Big Time," a retooled one-hour version of the program as an old-fashioned song-and-skit show in the vein of "The Ed Sullivan Show," complete with a monologue by Harvey, novelty acts, comedians and celebrities.

Following its veteran drama "Charmed," the WB is launching its promising new drama "Jack & Bobby," about the teen years of a future president and his brother, at 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, at CBS, shows headed for cancellation are "The Guardian," after three seasons, 4-year-old comedy "Yes, Dear" and sophomore drama "Hack." The fate of veteran Saturday drama "The District" was still uncertain late Sunday.

Another veteran CBS drama, "Judging Amy," is coming back with a new showrunner on board. Richard Kramer (ABC's "thirtysomething") in final negotiations to come on board the family drama starring Amy Brenneman (news).

The possible new additions to CBS' schedule are said to include the dramas "Clubhouse," "Dr. Vegas," "The Webster Report" and the comedies "Center of the Universe" and an untitled project based on the life of sports columnist Tony Kornheiser.

At ABC, sources said the network is looking to scale back from three nights of comedies to two, on Tuesday and Friday, with dramas replacing the 8-9 p.m. sitcom block on Wednesday.

One ABC scheduling scenario has "My Wife and Kids" moving from the 8 p.m. anchor position on Wednesday to the tough 8 p.m. time slot on Tuesday, followed by "George Lopez," which would move from Friday, "According to Jim" and "Less Than Perfect."

"8 Simple Rules" is rumored to move to Friday 8 p.m., where it would be joined by "Savages," "Hope & Faith" and a new untitled comedy featuring comedian Carrington. Saturday is expected to continue be home to the "Wonderful World of Disney" movie franchise.

Sunday's lineup is said to be mostly the same: "America's Funniest Home Videos," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "Alias," with David E. Kelley's new legal drama taking the 10 p.m. spot of the show that spawned it, "The Practice."

"The Eyes" is rumored to join the Sunday lineup as a midseason replacement at 9 or 10 p.m.

A speculative Wednesday lineup features "Grey's Anatomy," "The Bachelor" and "Desperate Housewives" with "Lost" also rumored for the 8 p.m. slot. "Lost" is said to also be in the running to join "Monday Night Football" on Monday.

While CBS' schedule is still in flux, a speculative lineup circulating around has the network's new Monday comedy block featuring "Still Standing" at 8 p.m., followed by "Center of the Universe," "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Two and a Half Men."

"The Webster Report" or "Dr. Vegas" are tipped to possibly take over "The Guardian's" Tuesday 9 p.m. spot with "Clubhouse" joining the network's Friday lineup.

WB Sitcom Trio to Return in Fall

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The WB Network has picked up the comedy series "Reba," "Grounded for Life" and "What I Like About You" for fall.

Meanwhile, NBC has ordered the drama pilot "Medical Mystery" to series, sources said.

The WB, which opened a second comedy night on Thursday last season, is said to be leaning toward returning to one night of comedies, on Friday.

The new Friday lineup is expected to include the three returning sitcoms -- "Reba," "Grounded for Life" and "What I Like About You" -- as well as "Shacking Up," the hot half-hour pilot starring Fran Drescher (news). Another comedy pilot, "Commando Nanny," also is in the running, possibly for midseason.

"Reba" continues to be the WB's most watched comedy, averaging 4 million viewers. "What I Like About You" and "Grounded for Life" lead their Friday time periods among teens.

MORE ON THE RENEWAL

CBS is signing up for another "Amazing Race," while the WB is giving the go-ahead to returning laffers "Reba," "Grounded for Life" and "What I Like About You."

As for the Frog, net's sked continues to fall into place with the renewals of "Reba," "Grounded" and "What I Like." While "Reba's" return had been assured -- skein, from 20th Century Fox TV, is the WB's top-rated comedy -- C-W-M's "Grounded" and WBTV's "What I Like" weren't slam dunks.

'Reba' gets once in a Lifetime bid

NEW YORK -- Twentieth TV has sold reruns of "Reba" to Lifetime for more than $300,000 an episode, making it the most lucrative sitcom ever to come off the WB.

The winning bid for "Reba" -- which Twentieth also pitched to TBS, ABC Family, WE: Women's Entertainment, Hallmark Channel and Oxygen Media -- signals that Lifetime is looking to ramp up its schedule with repeats of proven off-network shows.

Lifetime recently bought "Providence" (for stripping immediately) and "Frasier" (for 2006). An earlier deal will bring "Will & Grace" to Lifetime next year.

"Reba" will be exclusive to Lifetime only in the cable window; Twentieth has begun marketing "Reba" in off-network to TV stations, which won't pay cash license fees but will instead hand over five 30-second spots to the distributor for sale to national advertisers.

Even though Lifetime is paying cash for "Reba," the network will also give Twentieth the five national 30s. The difference is that Lifetime's contract runs for five years, whereas the stations get only two years.

Bob Cook, president and chief operating officer of Twentieth TV, declined to discuss dollar figures but said that if "Reba" pulls in viewers when it kicks off in the fall of 2006 on TV stations, he'll go back to extend their two-year deals for an additional year or more.

The fact that Twentieth couldn't get cash from stations for "Reba" is a strong sign that the syndication marketplace is still sluggish for anything but a must-have sitcom.

Lifetime Nabs 'Reba' Rights

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Women's cable network Lifetime Television has acquired rerun rights to the WB sitcom "Reba," starring country star Reba McEntire.

"Reba" will launch on the cable network in August 2006. The five-year deal, which sources pegged at about $300,000 per episode, covers all episodes of "Reba," which is now in its third season.

"Reba" joins a growing fleet of sitcoms coming to Lifetime in the coming years including "Will & Grace" and "Frasier." "The Nanny" and "The Golden Girls" currently air on Lifetime.

McEntire kicks off Whirlpool-sponsored tour Spokeswoman for Habitat adds surprise date in St. Joseph

By JEFF ROMIG
Tribune Staff Writer

Country singer Reba McEntire kicks off a partnership with Whirlpool Corp. and Habitat for Humanity on Monday in Benton Harbor.
Tribune Photo/DAVE HAMMAR

BENTON HARBOR -- Gail Kinzer patiently clutched the bouquet of flowers she'd purchased for the occasion.

It had been 10 years since she'd seen the woman who, along with Habitat for Humanity, made the purchase of Kinzer's first home a reality.

Before she knew it, she was embracing her friend Reba McEntire as hundreds of Whirlpool employees looked on from their seats at the Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College.

"I was just as emotional today as I was 10 years ago when I got my keys," the Nashville woman said.

McEntire was in Benton Harbor to preview the commercial she's starring in for Habitat and to kick off her Whirlpool-sponsored concert tour.

The commercial's focus is on the first-time homeowner's receipt of their first house key.

"It opens up more than just a door," McEntire said in the commercial. "It opens up a new way of life."

Kinzer can attest to that.

She's raised two children in her home -- which was built completely by women and sponsored by McEntire's Nashville-based production company, Starstruck Entertainment -- and said the overwhelming feeling that comes with the passing of the keys "never wears off."

"I know that feeling," she said after the event. "You're just overjoyed."

McEntire brought her tissues out on stage because she'd already seen the commercial and was prepared to well up again.

"It made me cry," she confessed.

The partnership between Habitat, Whirlpool and McEntire kept all involved smiling for most of the afternoon.

"She's such a wholesome person," said Millard Fuller, Habitat founder and president. "She espouses values that are very compatible with Habitat and Whirlpool."

Whirlpool began a partnership with Habitat in 1999. The Benton Harbor-based company donates a refrigerator and range to each home Habitat builds in North America.

And its commitment is growing.

Habitat will build 200 homes in Europe this summer and Whirlpool will provide a range, refrigerator and washer to each one.

"Wherever they go," Whirlpool President and Chief Operating Officer Jeff Fettig promised. "We're going to go."

And Fuller is glad to have Whirlpool by Habitat's side.

"We just go together," he said, comparing the two to bread and butter and salt and pepper.

And while the three partners were mostly talking about their partnership from a global perspective, the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph area was not forgotten.

Fuller talked about the reasoning behind the selection of Michigan as the host for the 2005 Jimmy Carter Work Project, which was kicked off by the former president a few weeks back.

He said Michigan is one of the top four states with 86 active Habitat affiliates, including Harbor Habitat in Benton Harbor.

"We just wanted to honor Michigan for the outstanding work that's been done here," Fuller said after the event.

And McEntire and Fettig capped the afternoon off with a surprise for the employees in attendance and for southwest Michigan and northern Indiana Reba McEntire fans whose only opportunities to see her perform this summer would come in Jackson, Mount Pleasant or Indianapolis.

"We've been needin' to add another date," McEntire said coyly of her first tour in four years.

The crowd erupted.

"I think they think it's a good idea," Fettig said before he and McEntire announced her visit to St. Joseph's Dickenson Stadium for a concert on July 20.

And during the 11 concerts leading up to and the 14 shows following her return to the Benton Harbor area, she'll actively embrace her spokeswoman's role.

"Every chance I can, I'll be talking about Habitat," she pledged.

Lifetime Television Acquires Hit Sitcom 'Reba' From Twentieth Television Beginning in August 2006

NEW YORK, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on its strong stable of female- skewing comedies, Lifetime Television has acquired the cable syndication rights to the hit series "Reba," starring Golden Globe Award nominee Reba McEntire, from Twentieth Television, beginning in August 2006. The announcement was made today by Lynn Picard, Executive Vice President & General Manager, Lifetime Television, and Bob Cook, President and COO of Twentieth Television.

Under terms of the agreement, Lifetime will hold the exclusive cable rights to the half-hour program that will premiere on the network as a strip in fall 2006. "Reba" joins Lifetime sitcom favorites "The Golden Girls" and "The Nanny" along with "Will & Grace," coming to the network in 2005, and "Frasier," also arriving in 2006.

"Reba" premiered on The WB in October 2001, when it immediately established itself as the most successful comedy in the network's history and remains its number one rated comedy. On the series, McEntire portrays a teacher and divorced mother of three who juggles career, parenthood, grandparenthood, an ex-husband and the occasional date. The program also stars Christopher Rich, Joanna Garcia, Melissa Peterman, Scarlett Pomers, Steve Howey and Mitch Holleman.

"We feel this delightful sitcom featuring the comedic trials and tribulations of an intelligent and determined woman will blend in perfectly with our schedule and appeal strongly to our younger viewers," said Picard.

Cook added, "Today's multichannel market enables our company to be very creative in how we structure license deals so that we maximize the value of Twentieth product while also providing cable networks attractive program acquisition arrangements. As one of The WB's most popular series, 'Reba' exhibits the key traits that make it a strong program for cable: a proven star with a top-notch supporting cast and quality story lines that entertain a broad range of viewers. Lifetime, one of television's strongest cable networks, recognizes the value of such a program to its viewers and we are delighted to have entered into this win-win licensing partnership with them on 'Reba.'"

A multi-platinum and critically acclaimed recording artist who has sold more than 48 million albums, McEntire has won two Grammy Awards, 14 American Music Awards and eight People's Choice Awards, including Favorite Actress in a New TV Series for "Reba." Reba McEntire partners with Whirlpool and Habitat for Humanity

A big celebrity was in Michiana Monday to kick off a new partnership with Whirlpool and Habitat for Humanity. Country Singer Reba McEntire announced her 2004 concert tour in Benton Harbor, her first in four years.

Whirlpool has been partnering with Habitat ever since 1999 and Reba has been involved in Habitat for more than 10 years. Whirlpool officials approached Reba to see if she would be interested in partnering with them to bring public awareness to habitat and get more people involved.

"In the two blocks here this year we will be putting six homes up and we are looking at transforming this entire neighborhood," said Mike Green, Executive Director of Harbor Habitat for Humanity.

Whirlpool donates appliances to Habitat homes
Green says each year habitat builds more homes for the people of Benton Harbor and along with each home comes a brand new fridge and range from Whirlpool.

John Alexander of Whirlpool says, "It's really evolved into something much bigger than that, it's gone from giving a discount on products to donating product to really become a strategic alliance to partner with Habitat."

"But in addition to that we want to get more of our employees, friends, families involved in volunteering time for Habitat for Humanity," added Ted Dosch also of the Whirlpool Corporation.

Reba says she's ready to grab a hammer and build
That's why whirlpool asked Reba McEntire to partner with them, to draw more attention to Habitat.

"Why wouldn't you want to get involved? I mean what he says, I mean get me a hammer, I’m ready to go work on a house," said McEntire.

Habitat for Humanity founder Millard Fuller says,” Habitat for Humanity is just privileged to be the beneficiary partner. I think everybody benefits, but I think Habitat for Humanity will benefit the most."

Which means the people of Benton Harbor and beyond will likely benefit.

"They asked me to heighten the awareness for Habitat for Humanity," commented Reba.

"That is an invitation that is going out to million and millions of people," said Fuller.

John Alexander of Whirlpool says, “It’s not about doing something new, it's about starting a new relationship." Habitat for Humanity and Whirlpool hope it’s a relationship that will strengthen our communities.

Creating awareness
"I hope it will create a lot of awareness and much more participation from a younger audience, people who are looking to give back to their community," commented Fuller.

Soon you will see Reba staring in public service announcement on TV commercials. Her 25 concerts across the U.S. from June through September will hopefully encourage more people to join in.

Reba has financed two Habitats for Humanity builds in Nashville over the past ten years.

SITCOM UPDATES

One of the WB's problems this past season was the move of its top shows ("Smallville" and "Reba") to the 8 o'clock hour, and putting less popular shows behind them to air in higher-viewed timeslots.

Look for "Reba," a strong performer on Friday, to get a chance on a midweek night, possibly Wednesday, while the net keeps its Friday comedy lineup, with "Grounded for Life" and "What I Like About You" both still in the mix.

Variety

It is rumored that "Reba" will premier its 4th season on September 15, 2004 (Wednesday). Details will be posted once confirmed.

SoCal woman pleads no contest to posing as Reba McEntire manager

LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) - A woman accused of pretending to be actress and country singer Reba McEntire's tour manager to get people to give her money pleaded no contest to grand theft charges.

Michelle Egberts-Greene, 38, convinced nine people to loan her thousands of dollars that she had no intention of returning, prosecutors said.

She will probably face three years probation if she makes a good-faith effort to repay her victims, said Deputy District Attorney Dave Fleck. If not, she could face up to four years and four months in state prison.

"She basically has a chance to prove herself and show that she doesn't deserve to go to prison," Fleck said.

One of the victims was a 77-year-old man who paid Egberts-Greene at least $2,000 after she convinced him she could get him a job working with McEntire's entourage.

Egberts-Greene will return to court June 8 for a restitution hearing to determine how much she owes three of the victims. She has not disputed the amount owed to the other victims, Fleck said, and has already paid back about $1,100 to one of them.
