McEntire trying to get Parton for 'Reba'

Reba McEntire is actively trying to recruit Dolly Parton for her hit series "Reba."

"We're working on a script for Dolly," McEntire said. "It can be nothing less than perfect for Dolly. I would love it if it could happen this season."

McEntire has been trying for years to get the country diva on her comedy show. But Parton has been particular about what she does on television, McEntire said.

"We have e-mailed back and forth, and we have talked on the telephone. She says yes she will do it but only if the story is right. I said, 'Dolly, it wouldn't be given to you until it is perfect. Your standards are so high.' I am such a huge fan of hers. If it is not just right, I would not even give the script to her. ... I have always been a huge fan of Dolly Parton's. If I would get to work for her for a week, it would be a dream come true."

McEntire begins work on "Reba" in early August. It usually ranks as the WB's top Friday-night show and sometimes the network's most-watched series of the week.

"Dolly is great with anything she does," McEntire said. "I would love to work with Dolly. She is a sweetheart of a person. She's witty. She's funny, and she treats everyone so nice. That's the kind of people I like to hang out with."

Parton may not have the time for "Reba." She is making plans to launch a children's series from Dollywood. Parton has said in other interviews she wants to do the show from her theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

McEntire also has a "wish list" of other guest stars. She would love to reunite the cast of "The Carol Burnett Show" on "Reba."

"I'd love to get Tim Conway, Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman," she said. "I think they are one of the best casts in the history of television."
