THE WB MOVES REBA
'Reba' will have a new time slot for the 2003 season:

It moves from 9pmET / 8pmCT to 8pmET / 7pmCT.

This year, Reba faces a "good news/bad news" situation. The good news: her ex-husband and his obnoxiously chipper wife are moving! The bad news: they're moving next door! While she dreams of installing an electric fence, she helps daughter Cheyenne juggle college, husband Van, and parenthood. But her real challenge is the news delivered by her daughter Kyra: that she wants to move in with her dad and "the other woman."

Sure, the Harts are divorced, divisive and dysfunctional, but they're not about to let that stop them from being the best darn family in the Lone Star State! A Twentieth Television and Acme Television production from executive producers Kevin Abbott, Mindy Schultheis and Michael Hanel.

REBA READY TO RECORD NEW CD FOR NOVEMBER RELEASE

Reba McEntire is reportedly nearly through with the song selection process as she prepares to head into the studio in June to record a new album. If all goes as planned Reba hopes to release the CD in November.

Reba Working With Chesney's Producers

Reba McEntire has picked Kenny Chesney's current producers, Norro Wilson and Buddy Cannon, to oversee her next album. Wilson produced McEntire early in her career, but this will be the first time she's been in the studio with Cannon. "We're still in the song-gathering process and a couple of months away from recording," Cannon tells Hot Talk . McEntire, who's now living in Los Angeles where her TV series is shot, will return to Nashville the first week of July to work on the record. Cannon says they're not looking to take the album in any particular musical direction -- other than cutting the best songs they can find. But, he adds, "It's not going to be as slick as some of the things she's done in the past." There are no plans at this point to involve guest artists.

AND WHILE NOT STRICTLY A STAGE PRODUCTION, a little story about the wonderful Reba McEntire: Country Music Awards

While filming my series Family Law at Sony Studios a couple of months ago, I dropped by a few sound-stages over to see Reba McEntire, filming her show "Reba". I had not seen her since I designed her costume for the Country Music Awards, when she won Entertainer of the Year for the first time!. She told me the outfit is currently on display at the CMA Hall of Fame!

What a lovely and gracious person Reba is. Even though we haven't seen each other for years, and even though she is a major star in music, film, Broadway, and now television, she welcomed me warmly, chatted to me for quite some time, and gave me an autographed copy of her book.

What's that smell?

From InStyle magazine (May 2003):
-- "Reba McEntire. The country music legend and TV star says the fragrance she makes at home is better than anything she can buy. Her ingredients are lemon and rose scents, which together create a light, floral perfume."

RUMOR HAS IT
Reba annouced she will be performing "a few concerts in Las Vegas this summer."

Reba McEntire Getting Ready for New Album
Mon Apr 7, 2:41 PM ET

LOS ANGELES - Reba McEntire is getting ready to record her next album, as soon as late June.

"We're taping our last episode of the second season Tuesday night and we're all a little sad cause we've had such a great time this year," McEntire said. "And we have gotten picked up for a third season, so we are very very thrilled with that."

She said the show has actually gotten funnier now that the cast and crew have gotten to know each other.

"I think what has happened is that the writers know us now, and we're getting into the flow of things, and we know each other." McEntire said. "And it's just making it more relaxed, more fun. They know our voice, now. We do have a new show runner, Kevin Abbot, and new writers. Everything is just jelling, it's a family."

After the taping, she plans of heading off to recording studio.

"The album's doing very well. We're going to have enough songs to go and record in the latter part of June. We're very excited about it," she said.

"We'll go back to Nashville, and record the album and it'll be out in the fall. We don't have any idea of what it's going to be called yet."

NO TOUR THIS YEAR
It has been officially announced that Reba will not tour this year. It is too early to tell if she will return to the stage in 2004.

REBA EFFECTIVE PARENT (N.O.W.)

REBA'S "REBA" EFFECTIVE PARENT ACCORDING TO N.O.W.

If you've ever watched Reba McEntire's "Reba" sitcom, you know that she portrays a divorced single mother dealing with everything from her teen's pregnancy and marriage, to her divorce and the prospect of dating again.

The Tennessean points out that Reba's show was at first dubbed by some not to be so family friendly for dealing with teen pregnancy, infidelity, etc. But now the feminist watch-dog organization, N.O.W. (National Organization of Women), is giving "Reba" a thumbs up. NOW lauded the show for, "portraying a single mom who makes effective parenting decisions."

Bloopers!
Hollywood, CA (March 7, 2003) - Christopher Rich and Melissa Peterman, who are currently starring in their second season of The WB's hit comedy "Reba," will join comedic forces to serve as hosts of the one-hour special THE WB'S OUTRAGEOUS OUTTAKES. The special is scheduled to air on Sunday, March 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) on The WB.

THE WB'S OUTRAGEOUS OUTTAKES will feature rare behind-the-scenes outtakes from some of television's most recognizable faces and popular series. In addition to never-before-seen "Reba" bloopers featuring our hosts with co-star Reba McEntire, the special is filled with fabulously funny flubs from such fan-favorite WB series -- past and present -- as "Smallville," "Gilmore Girls," "Everwood," "Angel," "Greetings From Tucson," "Grounded For Life," "JKX: The Jamie Kennedy Experiment," "What I Like About You," "The Jamie Foxx Show" and "The Steve Harvey Show." Additionally, a few WB stars will make surprise appearances to introduce what can only be described as some of their most embarrassing career moments.

Currently starring as Reba McEntire's ex-husband Brock Hart on The WB's "Reba," Rich may be most familiar to television viewers as the dim-witted anchorman Miller Redfield on "Murphy Brown." His additional television credits include a series regular role on "The George Carlin Show," as well as producing and starring in the television movie "The Gambler IV," which marked his first project with McEntire. His feature film credits include "The Joy Luck Club" and "Flight of the Intruder."

Peterman stars as "Reba's" Barbra Jean, an impossibly perky dental hygienist who had an affair with and is now married to Reba's ex-husband, Brock (Rich). An incredibly strong stage and stand-up performer, Peterman made her film debut playing Hooker #2 in the Coen brothers' Oscar-winning movie "Fargo." She also appeared in the film "How High" with Fred Willard, Hector Elizondo and Method Man, and can be seen in the upcoming comedy "Recipe for Disaster."

THE WB'S OUTRAGEOUS OUTTAKES is produced by Brad Lachman Productions. Lachman serves as executive producer. The special was written by Ed Driscoll and Garry Bormet and directed by Gary Halvorson.

RAH! RAH! FOR REBA!
Reba McEntire will be presented a career achievement award June 26 at the Country Disc Jockey Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. The event will be held at the Hilton Suites in downtown Nashville. Last year’s honoree was Sonny James. Disc jockeys scheduled to be inducted this year are Bob Cole, Duke Hamilton, W. Steven Martin, Dan McKinnon and the late Dick Haynes.

REBA BUYS A NEW HOME
HOT PROPERTY
Some country croonin' near Beverly Hills

By Ruth Ryon, Times Staff Writer

Grammy-winning singer Reba McEntire, who stars in the WB sitcom "Reba," and her husband-manager, Narvel Blackstock, have purchased a Beverly Hills-area home for $9 million, according to local Realtors.

The country star, who played Annie Oakley in her 2001 debut as a stage actress in "Annie Get Your Gun" on Broadway, and her husband bought a six- bedroom 9,000-plus-square-foot house on 2 acres behind gates.

The grounds have a tennis court, pool, spa and city and canyon views. The house, built in the early '90s, has a basement, breakfast bar, library/study, service entrance and wine cellar.

Earlier this month, McEntire, 47, marked a milestone in her musical career when "Reba McEntire Live" became her 15th album to go platinum, reaching the million-sales mark.

Backstage at the American Music Awards in January, she announced that she plans to spend part of her summer recording a new studio album. She probably will do that during the summer hiatus from her TV series.

McEntire had her first No. 1 hit, "Can't Even Get the Blues," in January 1983. Since then she has won multiple Grammy Awards, made her feature-film acting debut in "Tremors" (1990), gone on tour many times and written her autobiography and a collection of essays.

McEntire also recently became a co-executive producer of her hit TV series, now in its second year.

Blackstock has been her manager since before they were married in 1989. Together, they built Starstruck Entertainment to include all aspects of her career.air it on the radio its probably true.

REBA TO PERFORM
(2/17/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- Kenny Rogers, Reba McEntire, Rod Stewart, and Eric Benet will perform at Muhammad Ali's annual fundraising event, Celebrity Fight Night IX at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix on March 15. Money raised by the event supports the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Research Center at the Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Childhelp USA, and several other charities.

This year's event will honor Halle Berry, Billy Crystal, and golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Larry King will serve as the master of ceremonies, but Ali will hand out the awards. The evening's musical performances will be directed by Grammy-winning producer David Foster.

The Celebrity Fight Night has raised more than $12 million to date.

American Music Awards
McEntire Has Long History With Alabama

The Associated Press

Country music singer Reba McEntire was pleased to present Alabama with the American Music Award's Award of Merit, partly because they go back so far together.

"Alabama is great. We were on the News Faces Show in Nashville, Tenn., in 1981 together with all the new artists. And they weren't even the headline, Lacy J. Dalton was. And we've toured together. I've been opening the show for them with Charlie Daniels in the middle spot when my stage was their grid, you know where the monitors and stuff came up," McEntire told AP Radio.

Alabama told reporters that after so many years on the road, they were ready to trade time on the bus for time spent with family and friends for a while. But the group insisted they'd still be focusing on the creative side of their music, just not being away from home for weeks at a time.

As Reba strolled through the women's apparel department at the Century City Bloomingdale's in L.A. recently, she found a man's wallet. Honest Reba handed over the money-packed billfold to a store manager, who called the man and said "Guess who found it?". When the fella heard it was Reba, he begged her to wait there so he could get her autograph - and big hearted Reba sweetly agreed.

ON THE BLOCK REBA'S RANCH
Reba McEntire could be your horse's neighbor.  The singer, who lately has been spending a lot of time in L.A. working on Reba, her WB sitcom, is selling one of two barns and 48 of the 80 acres that make up her Lebanon, Tenn., farm.  McEntire, 47, is keeping the main house across the street, however.  The stable "is an absolutely excuisite stone-and-stucco barn," says Realtor Fiona Haynes.  The 15-stall structure, complete with inground scales, an indoor wash area and a viewing deck, sports a $1.8 million price tag.

Country-music star Reba McEntire to be honored with KaBOOM! Playground by The Home Depot

Reba McEntire was named the 2002 Home Depot Humanitarian of the Year, the first time ever that the accolade has been awarded.  It was presented to her during the broadcast of the 37th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on May 22.  The award, voted by fans via The Home Depot and Academy web sites, will include the development of a new KaBOOM! playground in Ms. McEntire's honor in her home state of Oklahoma.

The other nominees for the award were Alabama and Brooks & Dunn.

Ms. McEntire was recognized for her work with health care issues, such as pediatrics, breast cancer and AIDS.  In her acceptance speech, Ms. McEntire said, "I know you've all heard the saying when we were little ol' kids, 'It's better to give than to receive.' When I was a kid, I didn't believe that for a second. But the older I got, I realized that the greatest lesson you can learn is to give."

The presentation of the award is the culmination of the Academy of Country Music's involvement with The Home Depot and KaBOOM! in supporting the effort to create safe, fun and much-needed playgrounds.

On April 16, America’s best and brightest new country music stars joined The Home Depot and KaBOOM! to help build a new playground in Los Angeles at the International Institute’s East Community PreSchool.

On May 22, at the Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, some of the same stars and heroes gathered to celebrate Ms. McEntire as The Home Depot Humanitarian Award winner. She will receive a Tiffany & Co crystal award, and well as a Country-music themed playground that will be built by Home Depot and community volunteers in the community of the winner’s choice!  (For a sneak preview of the themed playground's features, click here.)

The award was the first "Fan-Voted" award in the history of the ACM Awards.

KaBOOM! CEO Darell Hammond was featured during the broadcast of the 37th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, shown during primetime television on the CBS Television Network. He also participated in more than two dozen media interviews, sharing information about The Home Depot's commitment to creating safe places for children to play with country-music fans in many cities.

"Bringing together child's play and country music makes perfect sense because both children and country music artists tell stories through their songs. When we all get together with the Academy to build a KaBOOM! playground next month, the story we will tell is that it is only fair to give all children a safe place to play," said Darell Hammond, co-founder and CEO of KaBOOM!.

"By making this playground possible, the Academy and The Home Depot are not only honoring a really great artist, Ms. McEntire, but they are making a genuine contribution to the quality of life for children in this community."

KaBOOM! has worked with our friends at Playworld Systems to create a customized country music-themed playground design to delight young, playful singer-songwriters.   KaBOOM! now works with interested funding partners and community partners to incorporate special themed equipment into our playground designs.

We are excited about "kicking up our boots" with the Academy and with Home Depot on these two special playground projects!

Review: Veteran performers, hostess Reba put drawl back in ACMs

After several years of fixating on the overrated youth demographic, country music seems to be recognizing again that its veterans have the class, clout and cool to make the genre look good on national television.

These were awards well-paced and conservatively presented. There were no silly sets. Host Reba McEntire was comfortable, funny and completely likable. The new vocalist and group categories were presented with generous clips that let you actually hear the nominees sing for a minute or so.

Martina McBride won the academy's top female vocalist award, the first ACM victory of her career. The achievement was a long time coming — she picked up her first ACM nomination nine years ago.

''There is a woman who has set the standard for all of us females in country music,'' she said. ''She's a friend, a mentor, an incredible example and an inspiration to all of us. Of course, I'm talking about Reba McEntire. … I'm taking this home in your honor.''

McEntire, who was host of the show, was honored with the first fan-voted award in the Academy's history, The Home Depot humanitarian award. The result of a new sponsorship by the home improvement chain, the trophy created some controversy, with a corporation buying naming rights to an ACM award for the first time. The traditional red carpet, on which artists are photographed upon their arrival, was also changed to Home Depot orange.

The ACMs have long seemed like the awards show with pure Hollywood-driven fear of twang and slang. Here we had a host with a lovely unreconstructed drawl and a performance by a Georgia boy with a mullet. Now, that's American.

McEntire, who stars in her own TV show on the WB, also joked about crime in the host city.

''I realize that some things are different out here. Where I'm from, when you say steel guitar, steel is not a verb.''

ALL IN ALL, SHOW WAS AN ENTERTAINING REBA GREAT AS HOST
You could tell the months spent working honed Reba's comic timing.

While introducing TRAVIS TRITT she said, "Travis (Tritt) came roaring back on the country charts this year like a Harley through a church parking lot."

DURING THE INTRO of a Brooks & Dunn performance:"I have a t-shirt that says 'I survived touring with Brooks & Dunn.' And this year I was replaced by a bubble blowing goat. I sent the goat a sympathy card."

REGARDING THE PERFORMANCE of Kid Rock and Hank Williams Jr:"Now prepare yourselves, because this is a special duet you're about to hear. The song is
called 'The F Word,' which is the love theme from Ozzy Osbourne, the movie. Reba called the ACMs the "Country's party of the year," and so it was.
